The Best Kind of WritingPosted: May 12, 2009 | |
The best kind of writing is hard to come by. It doesn’t make you think too hard about details or logistics, but, at the same time, causes you to think very hard about the depth of the characters.
The best kind of writing is unusual. It calls you to employ all senses for the sake of the story. It confounds the mind and arouses the heart and soul. It isn’t always rational, but still speaks to your deepest parts about what is true.
The best kind of writing is, simply, the best. That is, it’s better than good. It takes time and patience to craft, but is worth it in the end. As a result, you, the reader, want to share it. You’re telling friends about it, trying to quote it, writing down tidbits on napkins.
Not all writing can be the best.
However, in my opinion, the best kind of writing is the only kind of writing worth exploring.
